Tips for the winter

The summer days are over and the cold season is upon us. This raises a few questions. Can I even use my e-scooter in winter? Do I need to store it somewhere? If so, what do I need to bear in mind? We have put together the most important tips for winterising your e-vehicle.

It is not recommended to use the scooter in heavy rain or snow, but it is possible. Although our electric scooters are protected against splash water, they cannot be protected against creeping water due to their design. Therefore, avoid travelling in heavy rain and driving through deep puddles. The batteries and the control electronics must not be submerged in water.

Apart from the technical aspects mentioned above, we also strongly advise you to leave your electric scooter parked in bad weather for your own safety. It is better to wait for dry, sunny days. This is safer for you and also a lot more fun.

You should always store your electric scooter in a dry place. A cover or portable garage is suitable for this. You can purchase one on our website or by calling us. If possible, we also recommend parking your electric vehicle in a garage or similar if you are not using it for a longer period of time. This gives you additional protection against possible theft or damage by third parties.

Yes, if you are not using your e-mobile for a longer period of time, you should fully charge your battery before storing it. This will prevent deep discharge. Even when not in use, it is important to charge your battery regularly at intervals of no more than 4 weeks. Always remove the charger from your battery after charging.

You are not obliged to clean your vehicle before you put it into storage. But of course, if you look after your vehicle regularly, it will last longer. Because even the best e-vehicle needs care and maintenance. However, you should never use a high-pressure cleaner or steam jet for this. The most thorough way to clean the scooter is with the good old method of a damp cloth and a non-aggressive two-wheel cleaner. By cleaning, you avoid unwanted paint damage or rust spots and can then look forward to riding your well-maintained and clean e-vehicle after the winter months.

Just like before every ride, you should check the lighting system, headlights and indicators. The functionality of the brakes should also be checked. Please also check the tyre pressure and the charge level of your battery. If everything is in order, you can set off with a clear conscience.
