Cable ties work on a simple but effective snap-lock principle: a toothed strip is pulled through a head with a snap-lock element and locked in place so that the tie cannot come loose by itself.
The reusable models also feature a release mechanism for loosening and resealing.

How to use a cable tie correctly

1. Select a cable tie in the appropriate length and width for your project. Make sure that the tie is long enough to enclose the entire bundle.
2. Ensure that the cables or objects are clean and neatly arranged. Remove any dirt or excess material so that the cable tie holds optimally.
3. Pass the pointed end of the cable tie around the cables or objects and insert it through the opening in the head of the cable tie to form a loop.
4. Pull the end of the cable tie slowly and evenly until the bundle is held securely together. Be careful not to pull too tightly to avoid damaging cables or material. With reusable cable ties, you can release the locking mechanism later.
5. Cut the excess end of the cable tie flush with the head to avoid sharp edges and prevent injury. Special cable tie pliers can tighten and cut in one step.
